It all started with the love of dogs and photography in sunny Southern California. It didn’t take long for us to realize that two cameras are better than one. Especially when the people behind them are so in tune with one another, and not just in photography. At the risk of sounding ridiculously cheesy; we love…love! On top of that we take such joy in capturing it, and not to toot our own horn but we’re pretty good at it too. Collectively we have both worked in avenues of photography ranging from product photography to elaborate weddings and commercial shoots. We founded Created Coastal Photography in 2017 based off a mutual love for photographic storytelling. We realized that together, we are more equipped to capture the authentic moments that you will hold dear for a lifetime. When you hire us to photograph your wedding, event, engagement, new beginnings, etc. you are hiring a team, dedicated to telling your story through our complementary photographic styles.

OUR BELIEFS

Our beliefs are simple yet important.

We believe that love is love and everyone has the right to marry who they love, beyond that we believe no human is “illegal” anywhere on earth, we believe Black Lives Matter, we believe everyone has a right to do what they want with their body, we believe everyone has a right to their own religion, we believe kindness is key, and love is all encompassing.

Although we may not all see eye to eye on every detail that life holds… respecting and honoring each other is how we grow as individuals and a community.

WHO WE ARE

Born and raised in Rhode Island, Mike Brown is what one would refer to as a “Jack of all trades”. This is because aside from being an astonishing photographer he is also ridiculously talented in so many other avenues. From being able to absolutely shred on a skateboard and snowboard, a fisherman that would impress any other, a love for adventure just as big as my own, an incredible father to our daughter, best dog dad to our pups, such a wonderful friend to anyone that meets him and honestly so much more, to sum it up you can always find him diving deep into a new adventure or project. It’s what made me gravitate towards him when we first met. Which is probably why he has so many friends that completely adore him as well  (no really, I threw him a surprised birthday party once and it took all the help I could get to gather all of them from all over the states!) That’s the thing about the guy, the love people have for him, is just as genuine as he is a person. Anyone and everyone he has photographed can attest to that. He is just the kind of person that you form a lasting bond with whether you expect to or not!

Although Kat was born in Ohio, calling her anything but a Californian just wouldn’t make sense, given that she grew up in Southern California… and if you ask her “once a California girl/ always a California girl.” She has a strong appetite for life and is always willing to go the extra mile for adventure. She loves the outdoors, art, spending time with our dogs, raising our angel of a daughter, as well as a wide variety of other pastimes. She is an Iyengar certified yoga instructor and an incredibly passionate person who loves to help people through her passion of holistic health (If you’re lucky she’ll pop out a quick meditation for you to help calm your jitters before walking down the aisle). As a photographer, she has a unique perspective with a keen eye for detail. If she is photographing you, trust that she will work until she gets an image as close to perfect as possible. Meeting Kat for the first time, you can expect a warm welcome and a new friend. You’ll come to recognize and love her signature laugh and exuberant personality as I have through the years. As a photographer and a person, Kat is as genuine as they come.
